Our preaching should never aim to entertain or amuse. The audience is not sovereign. We are not trying to be thought clever. But none of this is an excuse for boring preaching. Even faithful preachers working hard to handle the biblical text can grow in skill as teachers and heralds. Toward that end, Kevin DeYoung will present the case for veracity, clarity, specificity, ingenuity, authenticity, spontaneity and authority in preaching. The aim is that in examining these seven characteristics we can all improve as messengers of God’s good news – or at the very least, be a little less boring in declaring it.
