Two Alums Inducted into Morehouse College's Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers
Recently, Reverend Dr. Marlon D. Scott Jr., founding pastor of Columbus, Georgia’s Emmanuel Christian Community Church, and Rev. Dr. Robert A.F. Turner, senior pastor of Columbia, Maryland's St. John Baptist Church, were inducted into the Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers of Morehouse College, a 152-year old college based in Atlanta, Georgia. The Morehouse College Martin Luther King Jr., Board of Preachers recognizes ordained clergy of multiple Christian and global religious traditions who exemplify a combination of personal piety, religious civility, keen intellect, and a commitment to faith bearing witness in various forms of social justice, equality, and human rights. Religious leaders, both clergy and lay, have been inducted into this board for decades during the annual Martin Luther King Jr. College of Ministers and Laity at Morehouse in the spring each year.

Dr. Kenneth Swetland, Former Student, Professor and Dean of Gordon-Conwell, Passes Away
The seminary family has lost a treasured friend to many of those associated with Gordon-Conwell throughout its history. Dr. Kenneth L. Swetland passed away early Wednesday morning, February 13, of heart failure.

Dr. Emmett G. Price III on Studying the Black Christian Experience
Dr. Emmett G. Price III, Dean of the Hamilton Chapel; Professor of Worship, Church and Culture; and Executive Director of the Institute for the Study of the Black Christian Experience (ISBCE) is speaking on the role of worship in educational institutions at the 2019 Calvin Symposium on Worship. In an interview with Joan Huyser-Honig, Dr. Price helps to define the Black Christian Experience and articulates the necessity of the whole Church to study it.

Gordon-Conwell Names Its Seventh President

Scott William Sunquist, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Intercultural Studies and Professor of World Christianity at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA, has been elected by the Gordon-Conwell Board of Trustees to succeed Dr. Dennis P. Hollinger as the seventh President of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Dr. Hollinger, who has served as President since June 2008, retires at the end of the 2018–19 academic year.
