When is the Compass immersion program?
- The RMI takes place in the summer, usually beginning in the last week of June. The 2012 RMI is June 27-July 26, 2012. The 2013 RMI is scheduled for June 26-July 25, 2013.
How much does it cost?
- Thanks to the generous support of the Lilly Endowment Inc., and to the generous donors of the Compass program, every Compass participant over the years has received a scholarship covering a significant amount of the cost and keeping the amount that students pay low. We are pleased to announce that every student will continue to receive a scholarship worth thousands of dollars, and as a result, the cost per student for the 2012 Compass program is only $1900. Compass provides fundraising tools to help students raise money, and churches are encouraged to consider sponsoring students. The cost to run the Compass program is considerable, and the future of the program is at stake. Program fees, tuition fees, room and board, round-trip overseas airfare, staff, etc. bring the total for just the RMI to about $4,000 per student. Who can apply?
- Most students apply when they are high school juniors and participate in the Compass RMI during the summer between their junior and senior years, but other interested high school students may also apply. Contact us for more information.
How do students apply?
- It's not too early to be thinking about applying for the 2013 Compass RMI. Applications for the 2013 Compass RMI will be available in the Fall of 2012. Please contact us to let us know that you are interested and find out how you can get started.
When are applications due?
- Applications for the 2012 Compass RMI were due February 29, 2012. Thanks to everyone who nominated and applied! Applications for the 2013 Compass RMI will be available in the Fall of 2012 and will be due in the early part of 2013.
When will I know if I have been selected?
- We receive many outstanding applications each year and take as many of them as we can into the program. We do have a limited enrollment however and do not always have space for everyone. Admissions decisions will be mailed by the end of March.
